THE CHALLENGE

Offering an immersive retail experience to re-enchant the luxury customer

How do you renew interest and create desire in an ultra-competitive Chinese market?

With The Sillage, Amouage's ambition was to anchor its presence in China while reinventing the role of the physical boutique: no longer just a point of sale, but a total experience. In a context where luxury brands are facing a decline in store traffic, it was crucial to design a space capable of attracting attention from the outside, captivating visitors from the moment they enter, and extending the magic right through to purchase and beyond. Located in the heart of the historic Zhang Yuan site in Shanghai, The Sillage had to combine the brand's powerful narrative, Oman's cultural roots, and the new expectations of customers seeking immersive, memorable experiences.

OUR SOLUTION

So we created an immersive experience inspired by Amouage's heritage and Oman's marine imagination, focusing on emotional scenography and interactivity.

the concept

The Sillage

Transform the store into a dreamlike underwater voyage to inspire, engage and retain.

The Sillage is much more than a flagship store: it's an invitation to travel, where the story of Sindbad the Sailor becomes the common thread of a unique sensory experience. From the outside, the black and gold façade, animated by caustic lighting effects evoking the movement of water, draws the eye from over 10 meters away, encouraging passers-by to capture this unique moment. Inside, the path unfolds like an inspiring navigation: visitors walk beneath the hull of a traditional dhow, discovering monumental corals, moving reflections on the glass walls, and products staged in a mechanical merchandising system reproducing the rhythm of the waves. Just a few meters away, the experience becomes more intimate: olfactory discovery rituals, personalized consultations, and packaging art designed to sublimate the gesture of giving extend the experience beyond the purchase, reinforcing the emotional attachment to the brand. With The Sillage, Amouage affirms its ambition: to create an exceptional retail experience that is lively, engaging and deeply inspiring, capable of taking every visitor on a sensory odyssey.
